The view of the sea from the bottom is not unknown to us. This time we will look at the sea from the other side i.e. from the deck of the iconic sailing ship Zawisza Czarny. This is a three-mastsail coil schooner, whose owner is the Maritime Education Center. Zawisza Czarny is 40 m long, the area of sails is over 620 m^2. In addition to the sailing propulsion, it is equipped with a 390 hp DKW engine, such as on German submarines. Whoever has seen the movie "Das Boot" ship knows what we're writing about.

We start the plan from being checked-in on Thursday in the evening around 18:00. Shortly after assigning rooms on the ship, there will be training in the field of sailing and working on the sailing ship, including sail service. After spending three nights aboard the Zawisza Czarny, we return to Gdynia on Sunday morning, and check-out  at 10:00

You do not need to be familiar with navigation, sailing, maritime ceremonies and you do not need to have any rights to be shipped on a sailing ship as a crew member. All you need to do is to experience an unforgettable adventure. We sail under the experienced eye of a permanent crew, ie Captain, Chief, Bosman, Mechanic and Cook. The crew also includes four navigational officers having an officer's license approved by the Maritime Education Center in Gdynia. Each officer looks after his watch. Teach each one of you to control sailing ships, plot outlines and read sea charts, learn about the navigation lights of objects and ships, and explain which ropes are used to service the sails. He will be with you throughout the entire cruise.
We have 10 sails to service: bomkliwer, kliwer, latacz, sztafok, fok, grotsztaksel, grot, bezansztaksel, bezan and big bryfok, which hangs on the rei. We will be divided into 4 six-person watches + older watch + watch officer. These teams every 4 hours include a watch on the deck and work while others are dancing or sleeping.

If you think it will be a trip with a steward who will serve you a drink with a straw, and you will sit comfortably in a hammock, this is not a cruise for you. If you think that you will feel the life of the sea in 100%, you will support halyards, crafts, shoemakers, topenants, moorings, springs and brests, you will control the sailing ship, make bearings and put them on the sea charts, keep an eye on, can climb on the stork's nest on more than 20m, scrubbed the deck and cleaned the brass - the ship's bell) and struck glasses, this is a cruise for you. Everything is in front of you. We'll go where the wind will blow.
In addition to the rain jacket in case of bad weather, just take a few small things with you and have a good mood. The school staff is placed in a cubicle (sleeping bunks and tables for eating meals) at the disposal of which a school bathroom with wash basins and showers and a toilet is placed.
As part of the paid payment, the Armator ensures maintenance and preparation of the sailing ship, conducting the training of the "School crew", a place to sleep in a bucket - a separate berth (blankets and pillows, no bedding), fuel for engines and aggregates, drinking water and catering for the crew (three meals a day), basic insurance at sea.
The ship owner provides sailing vessel s / y Zawisza Czarny with equipment and a permanent crew in accordance with the Safety Charter issued by the Maritime Office in Gdynia No. 314 / GDY / 2017 on the positions: captain, senior officer, 4 watch officers, senior mechanic, motorzyster, chef, bosman.
During the cruise, all persons on the yacht are obliged to submit to the orders of the captain and the "Regulations of service for s / y Zawisza Czarny" https://cwm.edu.pl/system/files/130/ae1ea4ddaa.pdf?1530776420
After the cruise, every crew member will receive a "OPINION FROM THE CRUISE" honored by the Polish Sailing Association, necessary to obtain the appropriate sailing license.
The specificity of the service, safety requirements, watch schedule, clothing and equipment, sails and rigging, and service of the sails can be read in the "Regulations of service on s / y" Zawisza Czarny. Additional information may be provided by Col. Marek Cieślik, phone number 695566940.

In order to draw up the list of "School Staff" and the division of participants into watches, the crew will be asked later to provide:
- date and place of birth,
- ID card or passport number ,
-sailing and motor boat licenses - the type of patent, date of issue and issuing authority. (They are not required)
We invite you to visit the website https://cwm.edu.pl/zawisza-czarny
